There are several cannabidiol facts, but it appears that there is a wrong expectation per CBD fact. What is the fact regarding cannabidiol? What to expect from consuming CBD, and what effect would it have? We will explore a few CBD expectations among consumers and what they actually experience from it.

Cannabidiol Is A Natural Substance

Expectation: People often expect a naturally occurring product to be safe to consume, with no side effect. Of course, cannabidiol is also an organic substance present in cannabis sativa. It is among the hundreds of phytocannabinoids sourced from hemp and marijuana. Every single phytocannabinoid has its own chemical composition and effect, but cannabidiol provides several health benefits. Several individuals think that CBD side effects are nonexistent, and that they can consume whatever amount of the substance with none of these consequences.

Fact: With cannabidiol, you are unlikely to be overdosed and experiencing adverse side effects. This does not mean that there are no side effects of CBD. Some of the cannabidiol side effects are diarrhea, mood changes, fatigue, irritation, nausea, and dry mouth. A few of these CBD side effects can be tackled, but the point is just because the substance is organic, does not mean you can over-consume it.

It Gives The Consumer A High

Expectation: Several misinformed customers assume that because cannabidiol is sourced from the same herb as tetrahydrocannabinol, it will make them psychoactive. This is among the major things that individuals against cannabidiol consumption point out, frequently with no understanding of CBD.

Fact: The fact is that cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol are different cannabinoids, and that the former does not cause the high related to the latter. Both cannabinoids interact in different ways with CB1 and CB2 receptors, plus these have mostly different effects.

You will not be stoned out of your mind after consuming cannabidiol; rather, you might feel more relaxed and concentrated owing to its anti-anxiety effects. Many consume it to deal with stress and stay calm when under stressful circumstances.

Remember that not every cannabidiol product is created equal or follows equal quality standards. Some manufacturers set standards for others in the sector to follow.

It Tastes Unpleasant

Expectation: You would naturally expect a natural substance such as cannabidiol to taste earthy. So, many describe its taste as ‘unpleasant’. As a new customer of cannabidiol, you might not expect its taste to be any different from it. This brings us to our reality regarding cannabidiol’s taste.

Fact: Many different flavors are added to certain cannabidiol products, including strawberry, vanilla, mint, apple, berry, and orange.

It Is Not Legal

Expectation: Cannabis and its derivatives have been banned in America since the 1920’s, plus the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) prohibited it five decades later. Cannabis has been in the List of Schedule I Drugs since then. Therefore, one would expect cannabidiol to be illegal.

Fact: The prohibition of hemp was cleared when the Trump administration passed the Agricultural Amendment Act two years ago. The 2018 Farm Bill made the cultivation, trade and consumption of industrial hemp and its derivatives legal.

There is still a flipside to this. To be deemed ‘hemp’, cannabis sativa has to contain 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol or less THC. This means if a CBD product has more THC content than that, selling and consuming it would be federally illegal. You can consume marijuana and products made from it in some states, but to buy both there, you should show the medical marijuana card. Conversely, to purchase a hemp-based CBD anywhere in the nation, you need not show this card.

It Is An Elixir

Expectation: Cannabidiol is an organic substance, so it is natural to expect that it would cure all health conditions. There are individuals who think that it could cure any health condition after some publications referred to it as a ‘cure-all’. It is also thought of as a substance with the magical ability to cure health issues.

Fact: The fact is that cannabidiol does not technically cure any health issue known to mankind. There is scientific evidence that cannabidiol is a potential treatment option for many health issues, but studies on it are still in progress. It can help to manage pain, anxiety, inflammation and several other health conditions, but it alone will not fully eliminate these issues. Instead, it will interact with our immune system in order to reduce the pain related to inflammation.

It Is A Snake Oil

Expectation: Weirdly, some individuals expect CBD to be a substance without any medicinal value that is traded as a cure for every ailment. CBD skeptics have a big role in making others think of it as a ‘snake oil’.

Fact: CBD is neither an elixir nor a ‘snake oil’. The truth, as always, is somewhere in the middle. After all, if it was a hoax, then how could it get the FDA’s approval?
